Hamstring issue keeps Dodgers' Ramirez out of lineup

The SportsXchange

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez had an MRI on his left hamstring and was not in the starting lineup Friday night against the San Francisco Giants, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Ramirez left Thursday's game in the seventh inning with a tight hamstring, and manager Don Mattingly said the hamstring has been bothering Ramirez for the past three weeks.

In fact, Ramirez has been dealing with tightness problems in the hamstring ever since he came off the disabled list June 4.

Even if the MRI shows a favorable result, Mattingly said he would be cautious in his use of Ramirez over the final 16 games of the regular season.

"We don't have to push him out there at this point," Mattingly said.

The Dodgers entered play Friday with a 12 1/2-game lead in the National League West.

Ramirez is hitting .342 with 18 homers in 79 games this season.
