The Pirates (7-7) led 45-40 early in the second half and pulled away with a 17-1 surge capped by a Dwight Meikle dunk. Radford (10-5) missed six field goals, turned it over three times and made just 1 of 5 free throws during the run spanning seven minutes.
Hampton shot 53.4 percent from the field and scored 48 points in the paint to Radford's 20. Emmanuel Okoroba scored 13 points and Meikle contributed 10 for the Pirates.
Radford had a 46-39 advantage in rebounding, but was just 19 of 57 (33.3 percent) on field goal attempts and turned it over 17 times. Ya Ya Anderson led the Highlanders with 13 points and Kion Brown added 12 with 10 boards.
