CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) -- Du'Vaughn Maxwell scored 17 of his game-high 20 points in the second half to lead Hampton over Arkansas-Pine Bluff 72-65 Saturday.
Hampton (3-5) snaps a five-game losing streak.
Hampton went on an 11-0 run, nine scored by Maxwell, to take a 58-56 lead with 5:27 remaining. Tevin Hammond made one of two free throws for Arkansas-Pine Bluff before Brian Darden answered with a 3-pointer to make it 61-57, and the Pirates lead the rest of game.
Maxwell, fourth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in blocked shots, had three blocks to go with his 6 of 9 shooting from the floor. Darden made a game-high five 3-pointers and scored 17 points.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2-6) led by as many as seven points in the second half. Daniel Broughton scored a team-high 16 points before fouling out to lead four Golden Lions in double figures.
