Aston Villa keeper Brad Guzan believes the team’s impressive performance against Manchester United is a step in the right direction.
The Villains led 2-0 after 58 minutes courtesy of two goals from Andreas Weimann before United came back to take all three points at Villa Park.
And Guzan, who is currently keeping Shay Given out of the Villa side, has said that despite losing to the Red Devils the only way is up for the Midlands outfit.
“I thought the performance against Manchester United was a good indicator of where we’re heading,” Guzan told reporters.
“I think it’s a sign of good things to come. It will take time but we’re on the right road definitely.
“Everyone watching could see what we’re all about – desire, determination and a real attacking philosophy."
The American has had a mixed career at Villa Park since his arrival in 2008 from Chivas USA, and even parted company with the club at the end of last season after failing to agree a new deal.
Now under Paul Lambert, Guzan has elevated himself to Villa’s number one, and believes that while results have not been too good of late, improvements are right around the corner.
“I feel the pieces of his jigsaw are starting to be put in place,” Guzan continued.
“We want to create something special and the manager wants to do that too. We will continue to grow and build under the gaffer. We’re improving all the time.”
