A gun charge was added to the arrest of North Carolina junior P.J. Hairston. A Durham police report stated that a gun was found outside of Hairston's car, ABC11 in Raleigh-Durham reported Friday. Hairston was arrested for marijuana possession on Wednesday. The new charge implies that someone in Hairston's vehicle may have thrown the gun out before approaching the checkpoint where Hairston was pulled over. "We are still gathering information and may comment further later," Steve Kirschner, UNC's senior associate athletic director for communications told CBS Sports on Thursday. As of Friday morning, the school had not commented further. Hairston led the Tar Heels with 14.6 points per game last season.
