Griffin's knee injury not season-ending

The SportsXchange

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter against the Baltimore Ravens with a right knee injury, but the team reported later the injury is not serious.

It's still uncertain whether Griffin will be ready to play in next week's game, though.

Team spokesman Tony Wyllie told reporters Griffin had an MRI exam Sunday night, which revealed only a sprain.

Wyllie said "everything is clear" regarding significant ligament damage, and he said specifically that Griffin does not have a torn ACL.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan will update Griffin's condition Monday, and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported, based on a source, that there is "no guarantee" that Griffin will play next week against the Cleveland Browns.

Griffin hurt the knee on a sack in the fourth quarter. After leaving the game briefly, he returned but left again. Backup Kirk Cousins replaced him.
