Green Bay Packers Fantasy Football Week 9: Fan Preview

Yahoo Contributor Network

Note: The opinions expressed here are my takes on the Green Bay Packers' key players during the 2012 fantasy football season. As always, use your best judgment and conduct your own research on who to start or bench each week. You know your individual team and/or league situation better than anyone else. All statistics and point totals are based on Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football standard scoring system.

Aaron Rodgers, QB

Rodgers finished the week earning just 13.84 fantasy points in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. This week he faces an Arizona Cardinals' defense that has given up an average of 11.97 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. Rodgers was able to muster up a win without his top two receivers in Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson last week but it took a toll on his fantasy production. Look for Rodgers to return to old form in this moderately difficult matchup earning around 23.00 fantasy points.

Alex Green, RB

Green finished the week earning 8.20 fantasy points against the Jaguars. This week he faces a Cardinals' defense that has allowed an average of 16.37 fantasy points per game to running backs this season. Green certainly has not "wowed" owners since getting the starting nod but he has not been half-bad either. He has a moderate matchup, which should be good for at least 5.00 fantasy points and more if he finds the end zone.

Greg Jennings, WR

Jennings' abdomen surgery has been postponed due to poor weather in Philadelphia where the procedure was slated to take place. Jennings is likely to miss at least another month of the season.

Jordy Nelson, WR

Nelson did not play last week against the Jaguars due to a hamstring injury and it is unknown whether he will play on Sunday versus the Cardinals. At this point in the week it would be safe to look for replacements for a "just in case" scenario. Arizona is allowing 19.51 fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season so if he does play, he should be good for at least 9.00 fantasy points on the week.

Jermichael Finley, TE

Finley continued to disappoint earning just 2.40 fantasy points against Jacksonville last week. This week he faces an Arizona defense that has given up just 4.46 fantasy points per game to tight ends this season. Finley's abysmal performance this season paired with this tough matchup leads me to recommend looking for a better option this week. Otherwise be prepared to settle for around 4.00 fantasy points this week.
