MANAUS, Brazil United States captain Clint Dempsey will lead the United States' attacking line in a 4-5-1 formation against Portugal despite suffering from a broken nose sustained against Ghana.

Dempsey will be the focal point of the offense for Jurgen Klinsmann’s side in the absence of injured forward Jozy Altidore, while Graham Zusi has been picked in the starting lineup after coming on as substitute in the Americans' opener, a 2-1 win over Ghana in Natal.

Expect to see Zusi operating on the left flank and Alejandro Bedoya on the right as part of a five-man midfield aimed at shutting down Portugal’s explosive attacking formation led by Cristiano Ronaldo.

The defense remains unchanged despite speculation that left back DaMarcus Beasley could be replaced by Timmy Chandler. John Brooks, the goal-scoring hero against Ghana, also starts on the bench.
