Goran Dragic's 40 carries Suns past Pelicans

Goran Dragic scored 40 points to lead the Phoenix Suns to a victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, 116-104. The Suns had no trouble knocking down shots in this one, going 40-74 (54.1%) from the field and 26-32 (81.2%) at the free throw line. Phoenix (34-24) entered the game on a three losing streak.

Dragic shot 14-21 (3-7 from three-point range) and 9-11 from the free throw line, in an efficient offensive performance. Other key performers for Phoenix were Marcus Morris with 15 points and 7 rebounds, and Ish Smith with 10 points and 6 assists. Anthony Davis had another strong performance for New Orleans despite the loss, putting up 32 points on 14-18 shooting from the field and 4-4 from the free throw line. He also recorded 9 rebounds.

The Suns combined an eFG% of 60.8% with 43.5% 3-point shooting. They are 10-2 this year when registering marks above 55% and 40% in those respective statistics. The Pelicans, on the other hand, are winless (0-10) when allowing opponents to hit those marks.

New Orleans (23-35) has now lost six straight games.

Coming up next, the Suns square off with the Atlanta Hawks, who are 26-31 on the year. The Pelicans match up with the Los Angeles Clippers, currently 40-20 this season. The Pelicans have lost to Los Angeles the last two times they have played.
