NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell mentioned at the end of the ownership meeting in Dallas on Wednesday that the possibility of expanding the number of playoff teams is being discussed again. Goodell said that in the coming months owners will continue to discuss the possibility of expanding the playoffs from 12 teams to 14 or 16 teams. A 16-team playoff would eliminate the bye week for all teams, although the idea of playoff expansion has been broached before.
