Golson to return to Notre Dame in the spring

Quarterback Everett Golson, who was suspended for the fall term for poor academic judgment, told a television station that he plans to return to Notre Dame in the spring.

"I will be returning in the spring, that's pretty much it," Golson told television station WPDE in Myrtle Beach, S.C., according to multiple media reports. "I've been working out, keeping my head up. I've had a little adversity but I've learned you can't sit down and just take that, you got to pick yourself back up and keep going forward and continue doing what you were doing and everything is going to work itself out in the end."

Golson helped the Irish go 12-0 during the regular season and get to the national title game against Alabama. Golson started 11 of the Irish's 13 games last season and complete 58.8 percent of his passes.

Tommy Rees has been named the starting quarterback for this coming season by head coach Brian Kelly.
