Brickshire Golf Club (also called The Tradition Golf Club at Brickshire) is a Curtis Strange-designed golf course located in Providence Forge, Virginia. It is one of the newer courses in the state, having been in existence for only a handful of years, and is a par 72 course that measures out to nearly 7,300 yards from the furthest tees. What follows is my overall review of the golf course having played there recently.

Being a given that it is a well-kept course due to its recent construction, the course offers a great amount of variety that anyone would enjoy playing at. There are quite a few holes with significant elevation changes in them, along with many doglegs to have to maneuver around. I like to refer to the course as a "slicer's paradise," in that most of the fairways are set up favorably for those who hit the ball left-to-right. I fade the ball myself so I had a lot of good positions into many flags throughout the course. Also, the greens were at perfect speeds when I played the course; they were not too slow or too fast.

There were two negatives worth mentioning when it came to Brickshire Golf Club. The first is that it is a nearly impossible course to walk, not only due to the elevation changes but also the distances between many of the holes. A good example of this is the distance between the first and second hole, which seems like a mile long. Also, the greens are very difficult to read on the course, especially on the front nine; you basically just have to aim about one or two feet out of the hole and hope it goes in. They are easier to read on the back nine, but it will take some time to get the greens down and may be a frustrating time for those whose putting is not their strong suit.

Overall I would highly recommend playing at Brickshire Golf Club. It is well worth the money and is the best Curtis Strange-designed course that I have played on. The greens are a bit difficult to read, but the views are great and the course is set up in a way that most handicaps will enjoy playing there, especially those who are looking for a challenge.
