Thursday, August 28, 2014 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of 49ers links from around the web.
Good morning everyone. Sorry about the lack of links, we are a little low on content because most of the roster questions have already been answered. As far as I can tell, the only big one still left unanswered is the starting job next to Patrick Willis, and that is set to be decided after the game. The good news is that after tonight, we won't have to watch anymore terrible preseason games for just about a calender year. The game itself will be in Houston against the Texans and lets be honest, it probably won't tell us much. The last preseason game never does. The starters probably won't play, and I would bet almost anything that the coaching staff already knows who they want to keep. The wildcard, of course, is players cut from other teams.
Over the last few weeks, I have made no secret of my disdain for the preseason. In fact, I am not sure if I will even watch tonight. In the grand scheme of things, this weighs a little light on the scale of importance, but I still feel it should be addressed. On one hand, I enjoy seeing what the bottom of the roster guys can do. But on the other, I feel that the preseason is basically five weeks of garbage that the NFL can profit off of. At this point, I really don't want to contribute to that anymore. Two weeks is fine, keep the Hall of Fame game for all I care, but five weeks is too long, and the NFL won't change until viewers give them a reason to. To the links!
