Gio Gonzalez: Received Non-PED Supplements From Clinic

Rotowire.com
Update: Gonzalez, previously named on a list of players receiving performance-enhancing drugs from the Miami clinic Biogenesis, was identified as the only client of physician Anthony Bosch who did not receive substances banned by Major League Baseball, ESPN.com's T.J. Quinn and Mike Fish report. An independent source said that Gonzalez received $1,000 worth of glutathione, intramuscular shots, and amino acids, none of which violate the MLB's drug policy.

Recommendation: The report would seem to bolster Gonzalez's case to avoid a suspension, but the fact that the previously named players and the five new Bosch clients revealed in the ESPN report remain implicated suggests Gonzalez will still be under intense scrutiny while the league investigates. At the very least, Gonzalez would seem to have the legitimate grounds to appeal a suspension should Major League Baseball impose one upon him.
