Mexico and Villarreal forward Giovani Dos Santos tweeted Tuesday that he is very happy to return to training, indicating that he has been given the all clear by the medical staff at the Spanish first division club.
La Liga outfit Villarreal had been somewhat secretive about the severity of forward Giovani Dos Santos’ hamstring injury, but the 25-year-old was included in the team’s squad last weekend and should be set to play a part in Villarreal’s next game away at Malaga on Monday.
Dos Santos has ten goals in 26 appearances for Villarreal this season but last featured on March 27 against Getafe. Since then, the team has managed four points from three games and slipped to sixth in La Liga.
The news is also a positive for Mexico coach Miguel Herrera, who hasn’t had chance to see Dos Santos first hand in any warm up games after a previous injury kept him out of the March 5 El Tri friendly against Nigeria but will at least be able check on the former Barcelona player’s form during the last five matches of La Liga.
If Dos Santos does play for Villarreal against Malaga, it will be his 100th appearance in La Liga.
