Gilbert Melendez vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov Official for UFC 170

LAS VEGAS – Gilbert Melendez and Khabib Nurmagomedov will face each other on the main card at UFC 170, UFC officials confirmed to MMAWeekly.com on Saturday.

The pivotal lightweight match-up will be featured on the pay-per-view portion of the Feb. 22 fight card in Las Vegas.

Melendez (22-3) is fresh off a Fight of the Year candidate with a win over Diego Sanchez at UFC 166. The former Strikeforce champion has only one loss in the last four years, a split decision in favor of Benson Henderson at UFC on Fox 7. The fight was Melendez's UFC debut.

Nurmagomedov (21-0) has yet to taste defeat in his professional career, picking up six of his wins within the Octagon. In his last outing, the 25-year-old Russian fighter went the distance with Pat Healy, earning the unanimous decision in a dominant performance.

UFC 170 is headlined by Ronda Rousey defending her UFC women's bantamweight title against Sara McMann, and co-headlined by Daniel Cormier making his light heavyweight debut against Rashad Evans.
