Less than a week ago, the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies finished a three-game series at Coors Field which saw the Giants dominate the Rockies on the road. Now, the two teams meet again, this time at AT&T Park, with the same pitching matchup that ended the series in Colorado. To open this weekend series in San Francisco, Tim Lincecum and Tyler Chatwood are getting an immediate rematch from their last outing on August 5.
In the first matchup, Lincecum came out on top, giving up one run on five hits in six innings. Despite allowing five walks, he outperformed Chatwood, who was making his first major league start of the season and gave up three runs in 3 1/3 innings.
Since the two teams met, both San Francisco and Colorado had successful weeks. While the Giants won three of four against a playoff contender in the St. Louis Cardinals, the Rockies helped the Giants' efforts in winning the NL West pennant by winning two of three over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
After having so much success on the road, the Giants hope they can get a third straight quality outing from Lincecum. If the team can also carry over some of their success hitting the ball back to San Francisco, the Giants will be in great position for potentially another sweep of the Rockies.
The San Francisco Giants will host the Colorado Rockies at AT&T Park located in San Francisco, CA on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 7:15 p.m. PT. This will be the first game in a three-game series.
Giants lead series 6-2.
