Giants' Scutaro having the time of his life

Nobody is having more fun in the postseason than San Francisco Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro.

He'll turn 37 soon. He's playing on his sixth team. He's going to his first World Series.

"I'm just enjoying this moment, man," he said. "When things are going really good, you've got to enjoy it, right?"

Scutaro was named MVP of the NLCS after hitting .500 with 14 hits in 28 at-bats. And to think, back in Game 2, it seemed as if he'd be knocked out of the postseason on a hard slide by Matt Holliday.

Instead, he rebounded and turned the series into his little playground.

He said the Holliday slide, which temporarily sidelined Scutaro with hip and knee injuries, wasn't a motivating factor.

"No," he said. "I was inspired because the playoffs had started. I was focused on helping the team go to the next round."

In the Game 7 victory over the Cardinals, Scutaro had three hits and a walk.

"Absolutely deserving of the MVP," teammate Hunter Pence said.

Now comes the World Series and a first-game date with Detroit's Justin Verlander.

"I've seen guys 10, 15 years in the big leagues and never had the opportunity to be in the World Series," Scutaro said. "To be here, I'm very lucky right now."
