Giants' Sash to appeal suspension Monday

New York Giants safety Taylor Sash will meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday afternoon to appeal his league-imposed four-game suspension.

Sash, who was suspended for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, is hoping at least have the suspension cut in half.

Earlier this month, he said he didn't know the prescription drug Adderall was banned by the NFL.

"I just put something in my body that I had a prescription from my doctor for. But I am a professional and I need to handle myself in a professional manner, meaning I need to know all the rules," Sash said. "I just have to look at the positives, like the fact that I'm still on the team. I'm still going to practice and go through with all the preseason games. I'm excited about that."

Sash said he took the drug under a doctor's orders for an anxiety condition. Several NFL players including Packers defensive end Mike Neal, Titans fullback Ahmard Hall, Saints kicker Garrett Hartley and Cardinals tight end Ben Patrick have been suspended in recent years for using the same drug.

Giants teammate Andre Brown won his appeal of a suspension based on having a prescription.
