Giants happy to wait to find out NLCS opponent

The San Francisco Giants partied into the night in Cincinnati, not knowing whether they'd open the NLCS in Washington or at home in St. Louis.

Because the Nationals beat the Cardinals on Thursday, the other Division Series is tied at two wins apiece. The Giants must wait until Game 5 is decided to determine their next locale.

If their opponent is the Nationals, Game 1 of the NLCS will be in Washington on Sunday.

The Giants are prepared, having packed for more than just the Division Series, which they clinched on Thursday with a 6-4 victory over the Reds.

If the opponent is the Cardinals, the Giants get to fly home and play Games 1 and 2 in San Francisco.

Late into the night, the Giants didn't seem to care one way or another. They were simply elated that they overcame losing the first two games in San Francisco before streaking to three straight wins at Great American Ball Park

"We have plenty of work still," closer Sergio Romo said.

Including the pitching rotation. Ace Matt Cain pitched Game 5 of the NLDS, which would put No. 2 starter Madison Bumgarner in line to open the NLCS. But manager Bruce Baker could go with Ryan Vogelsong, who pitched Game 3 of the NLDS.

Or, of course, Tim Lincecum, who pitched masterfully in relief in Game 4.

The first issue, however, is finding out whom the Giants will play.
