It appears New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz will be ready to play in Sunday's opener against Dallas, but the status of defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul remains unclear.
Pierre-Paul, the Giants' top pass-rusher, was listed as questionable on Friday as he continues to recover from offseason back surgery.
Giants coach Tom Coughlin said the availability of Pierre-Paul probably will be a game-time decision. Pierre-Paul had 6.5 sacks last season after getting 16.5 in 2011.
The news was better for Cruz, whose injured heel apparently will not prevent him from playing against the Cowboys.
Cruz has practiced all week, so his availability for the game is not surprising. He had 86 catches for 1,092 yards and 10 touchdowns last year.
