San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Santiago Casilla is scheduled to have surgery this week to remove a cyst from his right knee, multiple media outlets reported.
The Giants did not speculate on a recovery time, although head Giants trainer Dave Groeschner told the San Jose Mercury News that Casilla's knee will be immobilized for at least a few weeks.
The 32-year-old Casilla, who has been on the disabled list since May 21 because of the cyst, has a 1.89 ERA in 21 appearances this season.
He signed a three-year, $14 million contract with the Giants this past December.
