New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul was activated from the physically unable to perform list and cleared to practice, the team announced Monday. Pierre-Paul had back surgery in June. Pierre-Paul said he no longer has back pain, but will not play in the team's preseason finale Thursday at the New England Patriots. It is not clear if he will be ready to play the Giants' regular-season opener at the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 8. "I'm not going to rush it," Pierre-Paul told the New York Daily News. "A back injury is a serious thing." Pierre-Paul is in his fourth season. Last year, he had 66 tackles and 6.5 sacks in 16 games (15 starts).
