A week after running back Isaiah Crowell was dismissed from the team, University of Georgia linebacker Brandon Burrows has decided to transfer, the school announced Friday. Burrows, who was recruited as a defensive lineman, said he was leaving the Bulldogs because they used a 3-4 defensive alignment. He wants to play for a program that used a 4-3 alignment so he could play lineman again. The Marietta, Ga., native redshirted as a freshman and missed last season with a shoulder injury. He was rated as a three-start recruit in 2010 by Rivals.com. The move comes a week after Georgia dismissed Isaiah Crowell because of two felony charges. He is reportedly transferring to Alabama State, according to UGAsports.com. If he goes to Alabama State, Crowell can play this season since Alabama State is an FCS-level program, rather than sit out the required year if he transferred to another FBS school. Crowell was arrested last Friday and charged with a felony count of possessing a weapon in a school zone, a felony count of altered identification mark and a misdemeanor count of possession/carrying a concealed weapon. He could face a fine of up to $10,000 and a jail sentence between two and 10 years if found guilty of weapons possession on school property. A guilty verdict for criminal use of an article with an altered ID mark brings a sentence of between one and five years.
