ATLANTA -- Another game, another way to lose.
This time, Old Dominion lost because it never got around to guarding R.J. Hunter on Saturday in Georgia State's 83-63 Colonial Athletic Association rout at GSU Sports Arena.
Hunter made 10-of-15 shots from beyond the 3-point line, scoring a game and career-high 38 points as the Panthers improved to 12-12 overall and 7-4 in the CAA.
Virginia Tech transfer Manny Atkins added 16 points and nine rebounds, while Devonta White finished with 10 points and eight assists.
Richard Ross and DeShawn Painter each scored 15 points for the Monarchs (2-19, 0-9), which also got 13 from Nick Wright. Painter also grabbed 14 rebounds, but it was of little help.
Georgia State jumped out to a 12-1 lead 3½ minutes into the game, but Old Dominion rallied and took a brief 24-22 lead.
However, the Panthers established a 33-28 margin at halftime, then took control to start the second half with a 18-8 spurt. Their advantage grew to 23 points in the final minutes.
