STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) -- Georgia Southern's first signing class as an FBS school includes five offensive linemen, the area of most critical need as the Eagles prepare for their debut season in the Sun Belt Conference.
First-year coach Willie Fritz added 17 signees on Wednesday to three already enrolled in the university.
Georgia Southern's signing class includes five players from Georgia, three from Florida and three from Texas. There are three junior college transfers in the class, including linebacker Ken Butler, who was a first-team junior college All-America linebacker at Blinn College.
The Eagles added size to their offensive line for their move up to the Football Bowl Subdivision. The average size of the five offensive linemen is 6-3 1/2 and 304 pounds.
