Georgia LB Vasser suspended two games

Georgia's Chase Vasser, who was scheduled to be a starter at outside linebacker this year, has been suspended for the first two games of the season, multiple media outlets reported Thursday.

According to the Athens Banner-Herald, Vasser was suspended because of a May 11 incident in which he was charged with DUI.

"Chase Vasser will serve a two game suspension as per our Athletic Association policy," Georgia head coach Mark Richt said through a spokesman to the Banner-Herald.

Last season, Vasser played in 12 games, including three starts. He had 16 tackles, including 3.5 for losses.

Earlier Thursday, it was reported Georgia starting right tackle Kolton Houston remains ineligible because he again tested positive for a banned substance he took after shoulder surgery to repair a high school injury more than two years ago.

The Bulldogs were ranked No. 6 in the USA Today preseason coaches poll released Thursday.
