The heartwarming connection between Devon Gales and Georgia continues.

The former Southern University football player fractured a vertebra while covering a kickoff against Georgia over a year and a half ago. Since that frightening afternoon, Georgia has stood by Gales’ side, from sending him to Shepard Center, a brain and spine hospital in Atlanta, to Georgia staff visiting with him, to paying for Gales’ parents trips to visit their son.

Gales has become part of the UGA family ever since the injury.

On Saturday, Gales received an NCAA Sportsmanship Award during a Georgia basketball game, but the award was not the highlight of the day. The University of Georgia Athletic Association announced a campaign to raise $500,000 for a handicap accessible house for Gales and his family.

Georgia is imploring not only Georgia fans, but everyone to help raise enough money for Devon’s house.

To donate $5 to “Build a Dawg House”, text “Devon” to (706) 204 1707.
