WASHINGTON (AP) -- Maurice Creek scored 20 points and Patricio Garino added 18 points as hot-shooting George Washington overwhelmed Fordham 93-67 Saturday afternoon to remain undefeated at home.
In a span of more than 11 minutes of the first half, GW made 16 straight shots from the floor, including six 3-pointers by five different players, the first two coming from Skyler White. During the run, the Colonials surged to a 29-point lead, and continued to roll in the second half.
Isaiah Armwood and Kevin Larsen scored 16 and 14 points respectively, and had eight rebounds apiece. Garino and Larsen were each 6 of 7 from the field. GW (19-4, 7-2 Atlantic 10) finished 59.3 percent from the floor and made 10 of 25 3-point attempts.
Fordham (9-13, 2-7) was led by Branden Frazier, who scored 23 points.
Garino got the Colonials off to a quick start, scoring on an alley-oop dunk off the opening tip, hitting a 3-pointer, and feeding Joe McDonald for another 3 as GW surged to an 8-0 lead.
When White joined four other reserves on the floor just 6 minutes into the game, he drained back-to-back 3-pointers from the right corner which ignited GW's run of 16 straight shots, during which the Colonials transformed a 14-3 lead to 54-25. Nick Griffin topped off with the streak with a 3-pointer.
Early in the second half, Fordham got the deficit down to 19 on a layup by Frazier. But GW quickly resumed control and eventually built its lead to 31 points. With fans imploring the Colonials to try to reach 100 points, coach Mike Lonergan slowed the pace and GW didn't score a field goal in the final 4:50.
