New York Jets (5-5) at Baltimore Ravens (4-6)

Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET, at M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore - TV: CBS

*TV announcers: Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf

*Keys to the game: A combined minus-19 in turnover margin, the Jets and Ravens figure to bust out gameplans that would make Marty Schottenheimer look adventurous. Neither team has gained consistent traction running the ball as opponents stack the line in blatant disregard for the teams' outside receivers. The Ravens, winners of 17 of the past 20 at home, want to build on RB Ray Rice's season-high 131-yard game last week at Chicago. But against the Jets, who lead the NFL in run defense, much will be placed on QB Joe Flacco. He needs better protection to scan the field and has been limited in progressions. When CB Antonio Cromartie locks up with WR Torrey Smith, the Ravens will take a look. Cromartie, burned for a 43-yard TD last week, is allowing more than 20 yards per completion in 2013. The Ravens are expected to go after Jets rookie QB Geno Smith. Smith is prone to turnovers, including nine interceptions and one touchdown in the past five games.

*Matchup to watch - Ravens MLB Daryl Smith vs. Jets RB Chris Ivory -- Smith is a rangy athlete and the Ravens' leader with 86 tackles, 2.5 sacks and two interceptions and two forced fumbles. Ivory hasn't posted big numbers, but is capable of being dangerous as a quick, downhill runner who does most of his damage after clearing initial contact.

*Player spotlight - Jets S Ed Reed: He surprisingly logged 61 of the team's 69 defensive snaps at free safety ahead of Antonio Allen last week. Reed, released by the Texans last week, returns to Baltimore with intricate knowledge and experience against Flacco and the Ravens system in general.

*Fast facts: At minus-85, the Jets own the second-worst point differential in the NFL behind only 1-9 Jacksonville. ... Flacco is 36-8 career at home, including 18-7 in the month of November.

WHO WILL WIN AND WHY

Mistakes become amplified when points are at a premium. This matchup rates as a blood draw on the excitement scale, but if pitcher's duels are your fancy, Rex Ryan and John Harbaugh are serving the main course.

*Our pick: Ravens 13-9
