N.Y. Jets (4-3) at Cincinnati Bengals (5-2)

Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET, at Paul Brown Stadium, Cincinnati - TV: CBS

*TV announcers: Kevin Harlan, Solomon Wilcots

*Keys to the game: This is the 12th time the Bengals have gone up against a Rex Ryan scheme, including the playoffs, dating to his days with the Ravens. The Jets also operate the '46' scheme Mike Pettinne brought to the Bills, which should allow the Bengals to use quick-hitting short routes and bide their time waiting for single coverage. WR A.J. Green gets his looks every game, but QB Andy Dalton must ace his reads to keep the ball out of CB Antonio Cromatie's mitts. Cromartie has the height and recovery speed to shut down Green. The Bengals bring plenty of pressure, and might dial it up another notch after not having any sacks last week. Geno Smith has 11 interceptions but has shown a preference to go up top when he feels pressure. That could be a double-edged sword for the Bengals, who have been thinned in the secondary by injuries. Jets RB Chris Ivory logged 34 carries last week and is in line for more work ahead of shifty Bilal Powell. If Ivory can move the chains the Jets can count on higher-percentage passes by the fourth quarter.

*Matchup to watch - Bengals RT Andre Smith vs. Jets DL Muhammad Wilkerson -- Smith has allowed three sacks and 10 quarterback hits, worst on the Bengals. Wilkerson has six sacks, and has posted at least one in all but one game. Smith has improved, but the mauler won't win regularly in pass protection.

*Player spotlight - Bengals DE Carlos Dunlap: Ryan said he hasn't studied Dunlap since the draft but had a few 'wow' moments in film preparation this week. Dunlap has 4.0 sacks, which is his best start since his rookie year in 2010.

*Fast facts: The Jets have won the past four meetings. ... Smith is the only quarterback since 1970 with four game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime of his first seven games.

Cincinnati's front seven unplugs the power running game of the Jets and relies on complementary receivers, including TEs Jermaine Gresham and Tyler Eifert, to eke out a fifth consecutive home win.

*Our pick: Bengals 23-16
