NFL mock draft 1.0:

Galaxy-Sporting Kansas City Preview

AP - Sports

Saturday's matchup between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Sporting Kansas City features not only two of the hottest teams in MLS, but two of the stingiest.

Kansas City's defense could be in for a challenge, however, given how impressive Los Angeles was offensively in its last match.

The Galaxy (7-3-6) concede a league-best 0.88 goals per game, while Kansas City (9-5-5) is right behind them at 0.89. Los Angeles is 5-0-3 in its last eight matches and hasn't lost since a 1-0 setback in Houston on May 17. Sporting has won four of five to put itself atop the Eastern Conference table.

Robbie Keane scored twice and assisted on two other goals in the Galaxy's 5-1 win over New England on Wednesday. It was the highest-scoring output by Los Angeles since a 5-3 victory at Portland on July 14, 2012.

Gyasi Zardes also scored twice and has five goals in his last five matches after scoring just once through his first nine. Keane had been scoreless in four straight.

The offense is clicking much better than it did in a 2-3-3 start to the season when Los Angeles totaled eight goals and was shut out three times.

"We had a number of games where we played well, we keep saying, but not scoring goals. ...When you score goals like that, it makes the game a lot easier," Landon Donovan, who has 14 goals in 31 career matches against Sporting, told the league's official website. "It was nice to see it in the second half. It was very professional the way we played and everybody did their part and we countered them with venom."

Meanwhile, Kansas City has developed a habit of finding late winners. Benny Feilhaber scored in the 93rd minute Wednesday for a 2-1 win at Columbus, four days after Dom Dwyer tallied in the 89th minute in a 2-1 victory at Montreal.

"We've been doing it, a few times. Last game we pulled out one late," goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum said. "It just feels good not giving up until the end and to be able to string something together out of nothing sometimes. We've been very successful as of late."

Sporting has played a club-record three straight home draws and is undefeated in five straight home matchups (2-0-3) with Los Angeles. The Galaxy won last year's meeting, 2-0, at home on April 20 with Marcelo Sarvas and Donovan scoring.

Kansas City two-time All-Star defender Aurelien Collin had a red card rescinded by MLS' independent review panel Friday. He was sent off in the 55th minute against Columbus following a collision with Adam Bedell.
