Center Sam Gagner has reached agreement with the Edmonton Oilers on a one-year deal that will pay him $3.2 million, NHL.com reported.
By agreeing to a contract, Gagner and the Oilers avoided an arbitration hearing scheduled for Friday.
"It's obviously a long process but ... I'm really excited it's over with," Gagner said on the Oilers' website. "Arbitration is something you want to avoid if you can. I'm just happy something got done and I'm signed up for next year."
Gagner, 22, had a career-high 18 goals last season to go along with 29 assists for the Oilers.
