NEUCHATEL, Switzerland (AP) -- Chris Froome won the final time trial stage Sunday at the Tour of Romandie to take the overall victory in the Tour De France warm-up race.
The British rider defended his Romandie title and aims to become the fourth straight winner at the six-day Swiss race to win cycling's signature event in July.
Froome started Sunday's 18.5-kilometer (11.5-mile) stage trailing leader Simon Spilak by one second but finished in 24 minutes, 51 seconds to beat the Slovakian by 29 seconds.
Spilak finished second overall. Rui Costa of Portugal was third, trailing Froome by 1:32.
Froome beat time-trial world champion Tony Martin of Germany by one second Sunday. Third-placed Jesse Sergeant of New Zealand was eight seconds back.
Froome gave Team Sky its third straight Romandie victory, after Bradley Wiggins won in 2012.
