Falcons promote Vital to director of player personnel

The Falcons announced their cuts to get down to the 53-man roster limit required by the league on Friday.

Among those waived were LB Spencer Adkins, LB Rico Council, WR Drew Davis, CB Dominique Franks, OT Bryce Harris, LB Jerrell Harris, C Tyler Horn, WR Marcus Jackson, CB Marty Markett, RB Dimitri Nance, DT Conrad Obi, DT Micanor Regis, WR James Rodgers, LB Pat Schiller, CB Peyton Thompson, S Suaesi Tuimaunei.

Atlanta reached injury settlements with TE Lamark Brown and OG Andrew Jackson and waived/injured WR Kerry Meier.

The team also placed safety Shann Schillinger on injured reserve, and released FB Mike Cox and LS Joe Zelenka.

Franks, was a fifth-round choice of the Falcons in the 2010 draft. Last season, Franks had 20 tackles (13 solo) with two interceptions and five passes defensed.

Zelenka was signed by the Falcons as a free agent in 2009 and served as the team's long-snapper for the past three seasons.
