Four conferences discuss secondary bowl agreement

The SportsXchange

The representatives for the four of the biggest college football conferences reportedly are discussing a secondary bowl agreement that would involve four bowls.

Officials with the Southeastern Conference, Big 12, Big Ten and ACC are talking about creating bowl matchups during the next six years, according to CBSSports.com, which cited two sources with knowledge of those discussions.

The initial bowls involved would be the Music City Bowl in Nashville, Belk Bowl in Charlotte and Alamo Bowl in San Antonio. The proposed plan would have conferences appearing in these bowls on a rotational basis that is still under discussion.

The sources said the proposal has yet to reach the commissioners or the bowl executives because the BCS is still formulating its playoff site format. That decision is expected in late April.
