Former player Curtis guilty in sex assault cases

It took a Michigan jury less than four hours on Friday to decide former major league player Chad Curtis was guilty of sexually assaulting three teenage girls.

The 44-year-old Curtis, had been charged with six counts of criminal sexual conduct, including charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, third-degree criminal sexual conduct and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to MLive.com

Curtis, who had played for six teams, including the World Series champion New York Yankees in 1998 and 1999 during his career, faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

He had been a substitute teacher as well as a weight room training instructor in Lakewood, Mich. His responsibilities also included massage therapy to help students recover from muscular strains.

Curtis was arrested in May 2012 after three teens accused of him touching them inappropriately.

Two 15-year-old students accused Curtis of inappropriately touching their buttocks, MLive reported. A 16-year-old accused Curtis of touching her private areas and fondling and kissing her breasts.
