Former MLS defender Iro reunites with Rogers at Stevenage

There appears to be a bit of a Major League Soccer alumni program developing in England's League One.

Former Columbus Crew and Toronto FC center back Andy Iro signed with Stevenage in England's third tier Monday, where he will be reunited with former Crew teammate Robbie Rogers. The two played together in Columbus from 2008-2011, and Rogers is currently on loan at Stevenage from Leeds United.

The pair will play under Gary Smith, the former MLS Cup-winning coach of the Colorado Rapids who took over at Stevenage last winter.

Iro has been out of action for almost a year, declining a contract extension from Toronto FC in January and failing to find a team until Monday. Stevenage announced the signing via its official website, welcoming the 27-year-old, 6-foot-5 defender subject to international clearance.
