Former Cavs G Gibson surrenders to police

Former Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson turned himself into police after being charged with second degree assault and battery, according to WDSU-TV in New Orleans.

Gibson, 27, surrendered at the New Orleans Police Department on Monday.

WDSU reported that the incident occurred during the Essence Festival earlier this month. Details of the incident were not available.

Gibson, a free agent, averaged 5.4 points and 1.8 assists in 46 games for the Cavaliers last season.
