Football Factory and KYCK to Host Viewing Party for Mexico Vs. United States Friendly in NYC

It will likely, as usual whenever these two teams meet up, be anything but "friendly" when Mexico host the United States Men's National Team on Wednesday, August 15 (8:00 pm ET kickoff, ESPN2). One way supporters of either side can lighten the mood that night is to watch the match while enjoying a cold beer that also happens to be free. If the thought of free beer isn't enough to get you to go out on a Wednesday night, perhaps you'll be interested in possibly winning a free jersey.

KYCK, the social networking website built by and for soccer fans, and the Football Factory at Legends (6 West 33rd Street in New York City) will be hosting a viewing party for the Mexico vs. USA friendly on Wednesday night. Football Factory is offering to buy the first beer of the night for all KYCK users who attend the get-together. To join the service, simply head over to the KYCK homepage and create your account. Customers will be able to show that they are KYCK users by logging into their accounts on their smartphones or other mobile devices. An Apple customer can merely show that he/she has downloaded the iTunes KYCK application onto an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. First-time users can also create a KYCK account and sync that account with their Facebook and/or Twitter accounts via the KYCK app.

KYCK will also be giving away two different jerseys during the evening. Fans will have an opportunity to win either a Jozy Altidore USMNT jersey or a Chicharito Team Mexico jersey. This giveaway will not happen right at 8:00 pm, but fans are still advised to get to Football Factory early, as the bar is likely to fill up well before kickoff because of the two teams involved. KYCK will also be giving away t-shirts and other merchandise during the evening.

The Wednesday night event is also a kickoff party of sorts for both KYCK and Football Factory. KYCK recently released an updated version of the website, one that splits your account homepage into two different sections. The change makes it easier to locate posts and stories that may interest you based upon your preferences (i.e. favorite clubs and favorite players you selected for your KYCK profile). Football Factory recently enjoyed a bit of a remodel, one that has opened up the downstairs area quite a bit from how things were back at the end of the 2011-12 European football schedule. Wednesday's event will give local soccer fans who haven't been to Football Factory since last spring the opportunity to scope out the changes before the start of the 2012-13 Premier League season.

Only those 21-years of age or older will be allowed to enter the downstairs Football Factory section of the establishment. All ages can watch the match in the upstairs portions of the restaurant/bar. The Mexico vs. USA match will be airing on TVs found throughout all sections of Football Factory at Legends. There will be no cover charge for this event.

I've often called Football Factory the best soccer bar in New York City, and I'm hardly the only person to have that opinion. There's a reason that over two dozen supporters clubs call the bar home on Soccer Saturdays and Soccer Sundays. See what all the fuss is about on August 15.
