ESPN college football analyst "Beano" Cook died in his sleep at age 81. Carroll H. Cook was a Pitt graduate who also served as the school's sports information director from 1956-66 and worked at ABC Sports for the next eight years. It was at ESPN where Cook became known to a national audience after serving as a studio analyst for ABC Sports from 1982-85. He had also worked for CBS, the St. Petersburg Times and the Miami Dolphins. Cook joined ESPN in 1986 and continued working at the network until the time of his death.
