Foot injury sidelines Flyers' Hartnell indefinitely

Scott Hartnell, the Philadelphia Flyers' leading scorer last season, is out indefinitely with an injured left foot, general manager Paul Holmgren said Wednesday.

"We will know more on this within a day or two as we await results of tests," Holmgren said in a statement.

Hartnell was hit by a shot from teammate Kimmo Timonen in the third period of a 3-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. Hartnell had an ice pack taped to his foot after the game and was not at practice Wednesday.

Hartnell's absence adds to the Flyers' injury woes. Danny Briere is coming back from a wrist injury, and Zac Rinaldo was cut by a skate Sunday against Buffalo.

Also, Brayden Schenn will sit out on a one-game suspension Thursday against the New York Rangers.

The Flyers are off to a 0-3 start and are last in the Atlantic Division.
