Following deadline day, Chelsea loan total reaches 26 players

Chelsea didn't buy anyone on transfer deadline day, but several players went out on loan to various clubs throughout England and Europe. Following the last minute loans, Chelsea's loan total for the start of the 2014/15 season is up to 26.

While several of those 26 are simply dead weight which Chelsea weren't able to find a permanent home for, the vast majority are actual prospects simply gaining experience while they develop. It's especially encouraging to see so many youngsters on loan to top-flight clubs in Europe's top four leagues, in addition to the group sent to Vitesse Arnhem.

Here's the full group out on loan, and where they are currently playing:

  • Christian Atsu - Everton
  • Victor Moses - Stoke
  • Ryan Bertrand - Sunderland
  • Nathaniel Chalobah - Burnley
  • Jamal Blackman - Middlesbrough
  • Kenneth Omeruo - Middlesbrough
  • Patrick Bamford - Middlesbrough
  • John Swift - Rotherham
  • Mario Pasalic - Elche
  • Gael Kakuta - Rayo Vallecano
  • Ulises Davila - Tenerife
  • Thorgan Hazard - Borussia Monchengladbach
  • Tomas Kalas - FC Cologne
  • Lucas Piazon - Frankfurt
  • Oriol Romeu - VTB Stuttgart
  • Fernando Torres - AC Milan
  • Marco van Ginkel - AC Milan
  • Marko Marin - Fiorentina
  • Bertrand Traore - Vitesse
  • Wallace - Vitesse
  • Josh McEachran - Vitesse
  • Stipe Perica - NAC Breda
  • Joao Rodriguez - Bastia
  • Matej Delac - Aries-Avignon
  • Islam Feruz - OGI Crete
  • Cristian Cuevas - Universidad de Chile

There will likely be more young players loaned to Championship, League 1, and League 2 sides in the coming weeks, as the 'emergency' loan window opens for those lower division sides in relatively short order. The loan roundups are already going to be lengthy though.
