Buzzing on Yahoo Sports:

Foles remains Eagles starter with Vick still hurt

The SportsXchange

PHILADELPHIA -- Even after quarterback Nick Foles set or tied some significant passing records Sunday, Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly refuses to speculate who will be the starter after injured Michael Vick is ready to play.

Kelly is off the hook for this Sunday, when the Eagles play the Green Bay Packers, because Vick apparently is not ready for action.

A couple of weeks ago, it appeared that all Foles needed to do to wrestle the starting job away from Vick was have a good game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Then Foles responded with one of the worst games of his career, completing only 11 of 29 passes.

After Vick re-injured his hamstring last week, Foles got a second chance Sunday and responded with one of the best games by an Eagles quarterback in franchise history. He threw for 406 yards and had seven touchdown passes, tying several others for the NFL record for touchdown passes in a game. He completed 22 of 29 passes.

He was a perfect 7-for-7 in the red zone as the Eagles converted all four of their red-zone opportunities into touchdowns, and was 6-for-8 on third down.

Can you bench a guy who throws seven touchdown passes? Stay tuned.

Vick probably still is a couple of weeks away from being able to play, which means Foles will start Sunday's game against the Packers.

All Kelly would say Monday was that Vick won't be ready to practice Tuesday and that Foles would be taking the first-team reps.

"They (the training staff) tell me when he can go, when he can't go," he said. "I can cross my fingers. I can be hopeful. But when they tell me he can go, that's when he goes."
