Flyers sign Gill, recall Hall

The Philadelphia Flyers signed veteran defenseman Hal Gill to a one-year contract and recalled forward Adam Hall from the Adirondack Phantoms of the American Hockey League.

Gill, 38, was waived by the Nashville Predators in July after playing in 32 games with the team last season. He joined the Flyers on a professional tryout in training camp, recording two assists in three preseason games.

Gill has 36 goals, 184 points and 960 penalty minutes while playing in 1,102 career regular-season games, seeing time with the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Montreal Canadiens and Predators.

He was part of the Penguins' Stanley Cup team in 2009.

Hall was loaned to Adirondack on Monday, along with defenseman Bruno Gervais, after going scoreless and recording 12 penalty minutes in five preseason appearances.

Hall, 32, signed a one-year contract with the Flyers on July 4 after appearing in 11 games for the Flyers last season.

Over parts of 10 seasons in the NHL with the Predators, Penguins, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild, Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes, Hall has appeared in 602 regular season games, posting 65 goals and 82 assists for 147 points to go along with 259 penalty minutes.
