The Philadelphia Flyers signed free-agent defenseman Kurtis Forster to a one-year deal on Sunday and also traded minor-leaguer Luke Pither for Carolina backup goalie Brian Boucher.
The Flyers also obtained prospect Mark Alt in the dea.
Boucher will return to the Flyers after two previous stops with the team, the last from 2009 to 2011. The 36-year-old posted a 1-6-1 record with a 3.61 goals-against average and .881 save percentage in 10 games last season for the Hurricanes.
Boucher's career record is 119-131-14 with a 2.69 GAA in stints with Philadelphia, Phoenix, Calgary, Columbus and San Jose. He'll join Flyers starter Ilya Bryzgalov and Michael Leighton in camp.
Forster, 31, is a well-traveled NHL veteran, having played for three teams. In 382 games over 11 seasons, he has 41 goals, 114 assists and 283 penalty minutes.
Also on the first day of training camp, the Flyers called up Braydon Schenn, Eric Wellwood, Sean Couturier, Tye McGinn and Zac Rinaldo from their AHL team.
