A series of FLW bass fishing tournaments were held over the Friday, October 12, 2012 weekend. Two of the tournaments were regional Walmart Bass Fishing League events. The other was a Walmart FLW Tour Open. With that said, here's a quick rundown on some of the results:
Sam Rayburn Reservoir Results
The Walmart FLW Tour Open took place Thursday, October 11, 2012 through Sunday, October 14, 2012 at the Sam Rayburn Reservoir in Texas. Fishing on the Sam Rayburn Reservoir proved to be exceptionally productive for pro angler Phil Marks of Dallas, Texas.
Over the course of the four-day long tournament, Marks caught a stunning 82 pounds worth of Texas bass. His Herculean efforts netted him well over $100,000 in prize money and the continued admiration of his peers. The tournament's remaining top five pro spots were earned by anglers Keith Combs (TX), Jacob Wheeler (IN), Landan Ware (TX) and Chad Grigsby (MN).
Kerr Lake Results
The Walmart Bass Fishing League's first regional tournament of the weekend took place Thursday, October 11, 2012 through Saturday, October 13, 2012 on Kerr Lake in North Carolina. More than 50 anglers participated in the tournament, which turned out to be a nail-biter.
In the end, North Carolinian Chris Marshall strolled away the winner. Marshall managed to catch 37 pounds, 8 ounces worth of Kerr Lake bass over the course of three days. He received a gorgeous Ranger Boat and a Chevy 1500 Silverado for his efforts.
It must have been tough for angler Spencer Barrow of Snow Hill, North Carolina, to learn how close he had come to capturing the tournament's top prize. Barrow finished the tournament in 2nd place after catching 37 pounds, 6 ounces worth of fish. He received a $1,500 prize purse for his accomplishment. The tournament's remaining top five boater spots were captured by anglers Maurice Freeze (NC), Robert Walser (NC) and Michael Murphy (SC).
Lake Barkley Results
The Walmart Bass Fishing League's second regional tournament of the weekend took place Thursday, October 11, 2012 through Saturday, October 13, 2012 on Lake Barkley in Kentucky. The event attracted more than 60 anglers to the lake's shores.
The big winner was angler Marcus Sykora of Osage Beach, Missouri. Sykora managed to finesse 48 pounds, 4 ounces worth of Lake Barkley bass into his fishing boat. As a result, he was able to ride away with a brand new Chevy 1500 Silverado and a Ranger Boat. The tournament's remaining top 5 boater spots were earned by anglers Mike Brueggen (WI), Jeff Ritter (WI), Jeremy Lawyer (MO) and Tim Wilson (IN).
