About the Venue
For those not familiar with the Dock Street Landing, it offers visiting anglers access to a full service marina and Plattsburgh's charming downtown area. There are multiple places to grab a quick and delicious bite to eat like Big Sal's Pizzeria on State Route 22 and Duke's Diner on Tom Miller Road. Visiting anglers may want to note that Lake Champlain is known to stratify during the summer months. Therefore, the use of deep diving crankbaits may prove to be productive. Up to date hydrological information about the lake may be found on both the U.S. Geological Survey and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's websites.
Fishing Tournament Series' Basics
The Plattsburgh tournament is considered part of the FLW EverStart Series' Northern Division. It is the division's second pro fishing tournament in a series of four events. The division's first tournament was held at Kerr Lake in Henderson, North Carolina, in mid June 2012. The winner of that fishing tournament was pro angler Christopher Carmell of Moyock, North Carolina. Carmell caught 36 pounds, 1 ounce worth of fish in three days. His closest competitor was pro angler Nick Gainey of Charleston, South Carolina. Gainey caught 35 pounds, 11 ounces worth of fish within the same time period.
As it stands now, Christopher Carmell and Nick Gainey's performances have left them securely at the top of the FLW EverStart Series' Northern Division's leader board. The division's remaining top five spots are currently held by George Lambeth of Thomasville, North Carolina, Brian Divito of Trafford, Pennsylvania, and Jacob Powroznik of Prince George, Virginia. Whether or not the pro fishermen can hang onto those top spots remains to be seen.
Upcoming Fishing Tournament Events
The FLW EverStart Series' Northern Division's next fishing tournament is scheduled to take place at the French Creek Marina in Clayton, New York, in mid August 2012. The division's final event before the November 2012 championship is slated to take place at Smallwood State Park in Marbury, Maryland, in early September 2012.
