Fishing Fans have much to look forward to in November 2012. There are many different tournaments scheduled to take place. One of them is the EverStart Series Championship. It's been a long time in the making too. The 2012 season started back in January at Lake Okeechobee with a stellar performance by angler Brandon Medlock. The season is expected to end along the Ouachita River in Louisiana. Here are a few more details:
The EverStart Series Championship is slated to take place Thursday, November 1, 2012 through Sunday, November 4, 2012 in Monroe, Louisiana. Participating anglers are expected to arrive in the West Monroe area by Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in time for a pre-tournament meeting. The pre-tournament meeting is scheduled to take place at the Monroe Civic Center located on the Lea Joyner Expressway.
During the championship, participating anglers are slated to launch their fishing boats daily, at 7:30 a.m., from Forsythe Park. The championship's first two weigh-in sessions are scheduled to take place at the park as well. They are each slated to occur at 3:30 p.m. The championship's final two weigh-in sessions are expected to take place at the Monroe Walmart located on Louisville Avenue. They are each anticipated to begin at 4 p.m. Fishing fans are welcome to watch the daily takeoffs and weigh-in sessions.
About the Venue
Forsythe Park is a large tract of land that features a public boat launch and access to the Ouachita River. It is located on Sycamore Street in Monroe. During the event, the fishermen are slated to wet their lines in the Ouachita River from the Felsenthal Lock to the Columbia Lock. As of Thursday, October 18, 2012, the Ouachita River's water level around Monroe was 21.43 feet MSL. The surface water temperature was at 70.8 degrees Fahrenheit. Those readings may change prior to the start of the championship. Hence, participating anglers would do well to re-check the condition of the river on Wednesday, October 31, 2012.
The Monroe-West Monroe area is hosting other events around the time of the EverStart Series Championship. Other special events taking place in the region include Muscle Team Madness, Downtown River Market Days, a Chris Tomlin Concert, a ULM Warhawks football game and an Antique Alley Holiday Open House. As such, fishing fans hoping to attend the event in person should make their travel arrangements as early as possible. Information about the area's lodging and eateries is available through the Monroe-West Monroe Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
