Floyd Mayweather eyes finish line prior to Marcos Maidana rematch

NOTE: The final press conference for Floyd Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana happens today at 4 p.m. ET. Meeting No. 2 comes Saturday night at the same venue -- the MGM Grand in Las Vegas -- and Mayweather enters as a solid, if not prohibitive, favorite to replicate the majority decision victory he earned after a far-more-competitive-than-expected first go-round. Always the center of attention in a desert fight week, Mayweather’s biggest news thus far came on Tuesday, when he suggested this weekend’s fight will be followed by just two more, in May and September of 2015, before he hangs up the gloves with what he assumes will be a spotless 49-0 record. Now 37, he signed a six-fight pay-per-view deal with Showtime last year and has reached the pact’s midway point by beating Robert Guerrero, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Maidana, each by decision.
